Textured Crop

Choppy top · modern

The textured crop takes the French crop and roughs it up: the top is point-cut into choppy layers around one and a half to two inches, and the fringe is broken instead of blunt. Sides run from a low to mid fade. The built-in movement means it needs very little styling.

Who it suits

The broken fringe flatters round faces better than a blunt line, and the texture suits thick, wavy, or slightly unruly hair that fights flatter cuts. Fine hair benefits too, since choppy layers read denser than combed ones. Very tight coils will not show the point cutting; a curly crop works better there.

Upkeep
Medium maintenance

The fade needs attention every two to three weeks, though the messy top forgives grow-out. Style with a pea-size dab of clay or sea salt spray.

Ask your stylist for

Ask for a mid fade with the top point-cut and texturized to about two inches, a broken fringe rather than a straight one, and weight kept out of the crown.

Textured Crop — common questions

How do you style a textured crop?

Towel-dry, work a small amount of matte clay or paste between your palms, and push the hair forward and slightly to one side with your fingers. No comb, no blow-dryer needed. Sea salt spray on damp hair adds grit if yours is fine or straight.

Is a textured crop good for thin hair?

Yes. Point cutting removes the hard, see-through edge that makes fine hair look sparse, and the forward direction covers more scalp than combing back. Keep the sides tight so the top reads full by contrast.
