Mid Fade
Balanced · sharp sides
The mid fade starts at the temple line, roughly halfway up the sides, and arcs just above the ear to the mid-back of the head. Barbers usually run it from skin or a #1 up through a #2 and #3. It splits the difference between a conservative low fade and a bold high one.

Who it suits
The mid fade adds a touch of height, which flatters oval, square, heart, and diamond faces. It handles any hair type on top, from straight to coily. Guys with very long, narrow faces may prefer a low fade, since removing side hair at temple level can stretch the face further.
Plan on a barbershop visit every two to three weeks; the blend blurs faster than a low fade. Daily effort depends entirely on the top.
Mid Fade — common questions
What's the difference between a mid fade and a low fade?
Height. A low fade sits about an inch above the ear; a mid fade starts at the temple line, halfway up the head. The mid version shows more skin and reads sharper, but it also grows out faster and exposes more of the head shape.
Does a mid fade suit a round face?
It can. The trick is keeping length and lift on top so the eye reads height instead of width. Pair the fade with a textured crop, quiff, or brush-up rather than a flat, short top.
