Bixie

Pixie-bob hybrid · airy

The bixie splits the difference between a bob and a pixie — shorter than a bob through the back, longer than a pixie around the face, layered throughout so it sits airy rather than helmet-like. You keep just enough length to tuck behind an ear.

Who it suits

Because the front length is adjustable, the bixie flatters more faces than a true pixie — longer cheekbone pieces slim a round face, and the layers soften a square jaw. It works on fine, medium, and wavy hair. Very tight curls will wear it much shorter than it looks on straight hair.

Upkeep
Medium maintenance

A reshape every 6-8 weeks keeps the layers from collapsing into a grown-out bob. Styling is a rough-dry and a little texturizing cream.

Ask your stylist for

Ask for a bixie: pixie-short layers through the back and crown, bob length left around the face and ears, everything softly texturized. Bring a photo — the pixie-to-bob ratio varies a lot.

Bixie — common questions

Is a bixie easier to grow out than a pixie?

Yes — you're already halfway to a bob. The back needs the most patience, but the face-framing length means you never hit the nothing-to-tuck stage that makes pixie grow-outs frustrating.

What's the difference between a bixie and a shaggy bob?

Length, mostly. A shaggy bob keeps bob length everywhere and adds choppy layers. A bixie actually crops the back and crown into pixie territory and keeps bob length only around the face.
