Clean stubble is roughly three days of growth held at 2–3 mm with a trimmer, then edged so the cheek and neck lines look deliberate. The neckline sits about two fingers above the Adam's apple; the cheek line follows your natural growth, just tidied. It reads groomed, not lazy.
Who it suits
Stubble adds shadow instead of bulk, which is why it works on almost everyone. Round faces get jaw definition without extra width, and square faces keep their angles. At this length patchiness reads as texture, so uneven growth is rarely a problem. Very fair hair can vanish at 2 mm; go a step longer.
Run a 1 guard (about 3 mm) every two to three days and re-edge the neckline weekly. A dab of light beard oil stops the itch and keeps the skin underneath calm.
